Toyota Supra maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps
A sports coupe with a gas powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs Supra owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.

Known repair windows
What Supra owners actually run into
Mileage ranges where these repairs typically show up. Buying above a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.
Electric water pump & thermostat failure (BMW B58)
medium severity60,000-100,000 mi · $900-$1,500
BMW-derived electric water pump is a known wear item; overheating
Oil filter housing / valve cover gasket oil leaks
medium severity50,000-90,000 mi · $500-$1,200
Common B58 oil-seep points
Intake-valve carbon buildup (direct injection)
medium severity60,000-120,000 mi · $400-$700 (walnut blasting)
DI without port injection; periodic walnut-blast cleaning
Clutch wear (6-speed manual, 2023+)
medium severity40,000-90,000 mi · $1,500-$2,500
Manual-transmission cars; hard/track use shortens life
Operator notes
5th-gen GR Supra shares BMW B48 (2.0T 4-cyl) / B58 (3.0T inline-6) engines, ZF 8-speed auto or 6-speed manual, built by Magna Steyr. Timing chain. Follows BMW-style condition-based service (oil ~10k/annual). Production ended March 2026 (2026 Final Edition) with no direct successor - discontinued as of mid-2026. Independent-shop costs run higher than typical Toyotas due to BMW parts.
When the smart money sells
On fleet math, a gas Supra retires around 95,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.
Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
