Toyota Venza maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps
A midsize SUV (2-row crossover) with a hybrid powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs Venza owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.
Service schedule
What it needs, and what that runs
| Interval | Service | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| 5,000 mi / 6 mo | Tire rotation, multi-point inspection, fluid-level check, tire pressure/tread (base recurring hybrid service) | $30-60 |
| 10,000 mi / 12 mo | Full-synthetic 0W-16 oil & filter, tire rotation, inspect brakes/suspension, cabin & engine air filter check | $100-170 |
| 30,000 mi | Oil & filter, replace engine & cabin air filters, brake fluid flush, inspect ball joints/CV boots/steering, rotate tires | $280-500 |
| 60,000 mi | Oil & filter, engine coolant + hybrid inverter coolant inspect, inspect brakes/regen system, air filters, drive belt inspect | $350-650 |
| 100,000 mi | Iridium spark plugs, engine coolant replace, hybrid transaxle (eCVT) fluid, inverter coolant service, full inspection | $500-900 |
Known repair windows
What Venza owners actually run into
Mileage ranges where these repairs typically show up. Buying above a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.
HV (hybrid) battery degradation / replacement
medium severity150,000-220,000 mi · $2,500-$4,500
Same TNGA hybrid system as RAV4 Hybrid; NiMH pack warrantied 10 yr/150k mi. Aging shows as reduced EV assist and MPG; aftermarket/reman packs cheaper than dealer.
A/C condenser failure
medium severity30,000-90,000 mi · $800-$1,600
Well-documented weak point across the RAV4/Venza TNGA platform - thin condenser fins pit/leak from road debris, losing cold air; often out of warranty.
12V auxiliary battery failure
low severity40,000-90,000 mi · $250-$450
Small AGM 12V that powers the computers/READY system fails early on many Toyota hybrids; car won't boot to READY when it dies.
Fuel pump (early low-pressure pump) / fuel system
low severity10,000-60,000 mi · $600-$1,200
A25A-family engines were subject to earlier Toyota fuel-pump recalls (stalling); check recall completion. Otherwise fuel system is robust.
Star Gaze panoramic roof & infotainment rattles/glitches
low severity20,000-80,000 mi · $150-$1,200
Electrochromic 'Star Gaze' glass roof and the 8/12.3-inch infotainment draw wind-noise, rattle, and software-freeze complaints.
Operator notes
Hybrid-ONLY model (2.5L A25A-FXS + electric motors, 219 hp, AWD standard) - it DOES get regular oil changes (0W-16 synthetic, 10,000 mi / 12 mo, 5,000-mi rotation). Timing CHAIN, no belt. Regenerative braking makes brake pads/rotors last far longer than a conventional SUV. HV battery warrantied 10 yr/150k mi; hybrid system 8 yr/100k mi. Discontinued after 2024 (final year); effectively replaced by the Crown Signia. Severe service shortens oil to ~5,000 mi.
When the smart money sells
On fleet math, a hybrid Venza retires around 150,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.
Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
