Ford Maverick maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps

A compact pickup with a hybrid powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs Maverick owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.

Known repair windows

What Maverick owners actually run into

Mileage ranges where these repairs typically show up. Buying above a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.

Low-voltage 'battery low' codes / limp mode / no-crank

medium severity

0-40,000 mi · $0 (software/warranty) - $350

Widely reported on 2022-23; largely a BCM software issue, addressed by updates/recalls

Grabby low-speed brakes

low severity

0-30,000 mi · $0 (TSB recalibration)

Took Ford ~18 mo to release fix; now much improved

Front half-shaft / CV axle failure

medium severity

20,000-60,000 mi · $400-$900

Some owners replaced both front axles under warranty

Infotainment / radio pop-and-die after car wash

low severity

0-40,000 mi · $0 warranty - $600

APIM/SYNC water-related faults reported

HV battery aging (hybrid)

medium severity

Any mileage · $2,000-$5,000

Long-term; 8yr/100k HV warranty

Operator notes

In production; 2.5L hybrid FWD is the signature powertrain (2.0L EcoBoost gas and, from 2024-25, hybrid AWD optional). Timing chain. Regen braking extends pad life. 10k normal / 5k severe (towing, short trips) oil interval. 20+ recalls across early years but reliability trending up on 2024-25 builds.

When the smart money sells

On fleet math, a hybrid Maverick retires around 150,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.

Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
