Mazda Mazda2 maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps
A subcompact hatchback with a gas powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs Mazda2 owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.

Operator notes
US market: sold only as 2011-2014 (1.5L MZR, timing CHAIN, 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto) -- a Turo 'Mazda2' in the US is almost certainly one of these. Globally the Mazda2 continued with the 1.5L Skyactiv-G and production wound down in mid-2026, so 2026 is the final model year. Simple, cheap-to-run economy car with no timing belt. Older US cars specified ~5,000 mi oil under severe use; age items (rust, bushings, AC, clutch) now dominate.
When the smart money sells
On fleet math, a gas Mazda2 retires around 95,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.
Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
