Acura ZDX maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps

A EV crossover SUV with a battery-electric powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs ZDX owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.

Service schedule

What it needs, and what that runs

IntervalServiceTypical cost
7,500 mi / 12 moTire rotation; multipoint & brake inspection; cabin air filter check; NO oil change$50-$120
15,000 miCabin air filter replace; tire rotation; brake caliper service/lube (regen extends pad life)$80-$200
36,000 mi / 36 moBrake fluid flush; cabin air filter; battery/inverter coolant level check$150-$300
75,000 miBattery/drive-unit coolant replacement; wiper & tire replacements as needed$200-$500

Known repair windows

What ZDX owners actually run into

Mileage ranges where these repairs typically show up. Buying above a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.

HV battery degradation/failure (GM Ultium ~102 kWh pack)

high severity

Any mileage · $15,000-$25,000 pack

Covered by 8yr/100k-mi battery warranty; capacity fade with age/DC-fast-charge habits.

Drive-unit / reduction-gear or motor fault

high severity

40,000-120,000 mi · $3,000-$7,000

Ultium platform had early drive-unit recalls/software fixes.

Ultium software / propulsion power-loss & DC fast-charge bugs

medium severity

0-40,000 mi · $0 (OTA/dealer reflash)

Shares hardware/software with Chevy Blazer EV, which had a stop-sale for software; addressed via updates.

12V accessory battery failure

low severity

30,000-70,000 mi · $200-$400

Common EV pattern; 12V drain causes no-start/wake faults.

Infotainment (Google built-in) / MCU glitches

low severity

Any mileage · $0-$1,500

Freezes/reboots; usually software.

Air suspension (Type S, if equipped)

medium severity

60,000-120,000 mi · $1,500-$3,000

Compressor/air-strut wear on adaptive-air setups.

Operator notes

EV - NO oil changes. Scheduled maintenance = tires, cabin air filter, brake fluid, and long-interval battery/inverter coolant. Regenerative braking dramatically extends brake pad/rotor life. Built on GM's Ultium platform (shares mechanicals/software with Honda Prologue & Chevy Blazer EV), which saw early software recalls. HV battery warranty 8yr/100k mi. Available in single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD / Type S. This is the 2024-2025 EV (not the 2010-2013 ZDX coupe); DISCONTINUED after MY2025, with 2026 allocations canceled.

When the smart money sells

On fleet math, a battery-electric ZDX retires around 150,000 miles - but the exit window opens earlier here: Drive-unit / reduction-gear or motor fault risk window ($3,000-$7,000) opens ~40,000 mi. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.

Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
