Porsche Taycan maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps

A electric sport sedan (also Cross/Sport Turismo wagon) with a battery-electric powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs Taycan owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.

Service schedule

What it needs, and what that runs

IntervalServiceTypical cost
20,000 mi / 24 moMultipoint inspection, tire rotation, cabin/particulate air filter, brake system inspection & lube, software updates, door/latch and body checks (NO engine oil - EV)$200-$450
24 moBrake fluid exchange (regardless of mileage)$150-$300
48 moHV battery & power-electronics coolant service, rear 2-speed transmission gear-oil inspection, desiccant/AC checks$300-$700
15,000 miStaggered performance tire replacement (heavy EV wears tires fast)$1,200-$2,400 per set

Known repair windows

What Taycan owners actually run into

Mileage ranges where these repairs typically show up. Buying above a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.

High-voltage battery module short-circuit (fire-risk recall, 2020-2025)

high severity

Any mileage · Recall (free); out-of-warranty HV pack $25,000-$45,000

~27,500 Taycans recalled for module short/thermal risk; fix = software diagnostics + module replacement if flagged

12V auxiliary battery failure (can strand the car)

medium severity

Any mileage · $400-$1,000

Well-known Taycan weak point; treat 12V warnings as early replacement signal

HV traction battery degradation

high severity

Any mileage · $25,000-$45,000 (mostly warranty)

8yr/100k HV warranty covers most cases; 800V multi-module liquid-cooled pack

Air suspension (standard adaptive air springs/compressor)

medium severity

Any mileage · $1,500-$3,500

Standard air ride; springs/compressor wear like other Porsche air systems

Infotainment / PCM software glitches, charging-port & onboard-charger faults

low severity

Any mileage · $300-$2,500

Multiple software/electronics recalls (camera, airbag, charging); many fixed OTA/dealer

Operator notes

EV - NO oil changes. Service is a 2-yr/20,000-mi safety-and-cabin cadence (tires, filters, brake fluid, coolant, software). Regenerative braking makes friction brakes last very long (rust before wear - annual caliper lube advised). 12V battery is the notable weak point; HV pack under 8yr/100k warranty. Heavy curb weight wears tires quickly. Latest year 2026 (facelifted Taycan in production).

When the smart money sells

On fleet math, a battery-electric Taycan retires around 150,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.

Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
