Known repair windows
What Murano owners actually run into

Cost to keep
What it costs to own, by how long you keep it
Scheduled servicing only, from a brand-new Murano at 12,000 miles a year. Insurance, fuel, tires and depreciation are yours to add - this is the part the shop charges you for.
| You keep it | Odometer | Servicing | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | 12,000 mi | $260 | $22 |
| 3 years | 36,000 mi | $1,880 | $52 |
| 5 years | 60,000 mi | $4,250 | $71 |
| 7 years | 84,000 mi | $5,030 | $60 |
| 10 years | 120,000 mi | $9,100 | $76 |
| 15 years | 180,000 mi | $13,950 | $78 |
Per-month can dip as the horizon lengthens - a major service lands in one year and then averages out across all the months after it. The left column is what you actually spend.
Operator notes
Timing CHAIN. IMPORTANT: fully redesigned for 2025 - it DROPS the old 3.5L V6 + Xtronic CVT for a 2.0L VC-Turbo (241 hp) + 9-SPEED automatic. This removes the prior-gen Murano's well-known CVT failure risk, but the VC-Turbo/9-speed are new (limited long-term data) and the turbo means synthetic oil plus a ~60k plug interval. Runs on regular unleaded.
When the smart money sells
Keeping it yourself, there is no cutoff - the table above runs to fifteen years. On fleet math, where a car has to keep earning, a gas Murano retires around 95,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.
Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
