Jaguar I-PACE maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps

A electric midsize SUV / crossover with a battery-electric powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs I-PACE owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.

Service schedule

What it needs, and what that runs

IntervalServiceTypical cost
21,000 mi / 24 moTire rotation; cabin/pollen filter; brake caliper service/lube; multi-point inspection; software updates; check HV battery coolant level (NO oil change)$200-$400
24 moBrake fluid flush; A/C desiccant/refrigerant check; wiper blades; 12V battery test$150-$300
48,000 mi / 36 moCabin filter; brake fluid; tire rotation; reductant-free full inspection; drive-unit + battery coolant condition check$250-$450
150,000 miBattery/inverter/motor coolant loop service; A/C system service; suspension/bushing inspection$500-$900

Known repair windows

What I-PACE owners actually run into

Mileage ranges where these repairs typically show up. Buying above a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.

HV battery pack overheating / fire recall (LG cells)

high severity

Any mileage · $15,000-$40,000+ (pack)

Multiple recalls (23V369, 24V085/24V086) for cell thermal overload/fire risk; folded anode tabs cause internal shorts. JLR ran a buyback for ~2,760 cars. Confirm recall remedy + software are completed.

HV battery degradation / range loss

high severity

Any mileage · Varies (range loss)

Owners report noticeable range drop nearing ~50k mi; ~85-95% capacity at 3 yrs, most packs 8-10 yr life. Charging to 100% and DC fast-charging accelerate it.

12V battery drain / phantom power loss

medium severity

Any mileage · $200-$500

Very common - car undriveable until reset; usually 12V battery plus out-of-date control-module/telemetry software.

Onboard charger / charging system faults

medium severity

40,000-100,000 mi · $1,500-$3,000

Failed charge attempts, BMS software faults, random warning lights.

Air suspension (if equipped) / infotainment

medium severity

60,000-120,000 mi · $800-$2,000

Optional air springs/compressor wear; InControl freezes and update failures reported.

Operator notes

EV - NO oil, NO spark plugs. Scheduled work is tires, cabin filter, brake fluid (biennial), and long-life battery/motor coolant. 90 kWh (84.7 usable) dual-motor AWD, ~230 mi EPA range. Regen braking makes pads/rotors last very long. Battery fire recall history is the dominant ownership risk - verify all recalls closed before buying/renting. Production ended December 2024.

When the smart money sells

On fleet math, a battery-electric I-PACE retires around 150,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.

Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
