The 2023 2 Series Gran Coupe is part of the F44 generation (2020-2026). Below: its service intervals with the source behind each one, the fluids it takes, the problems owners report for this year, and the NHTSA recalls issued for it.

Service schedule

What the 2023 2 Series Gran Coupe needs, and when

2 of these 12 items come from BMW's own published schedule. Manufacturer rows link to BMW's own schedule, Independent rows to a service shop or parts retailer's published guide.

ServiceIntervalSource
Engine oil and filter

The Condition Based Service (CBS) dynamically evaluates driving style and thermal conditions, potentially shortening this interval for urban fleet operations.

10,000 mi / 1 yearIndependent
Engine air filter

Inspection is recommended at 10,000 miles; replacement should be accelerated in high-particulate or dusty environments to maintain B48 turbocharger efficiency.

30,000 mi / 3 yearsIndependent
Cabin air filter

The microfilter protects interior HVAC components and must be replaced to prevent evaporator core fouling and restrict cabin airflow.

20,000 mi / 2 yearsIndependent
Tire rotation

Given the front-wheel-drive bias of the FAAR architecture, aggressive front tire wear is common; regular rotation preserves the xDrive transfer case tolerances.

5,000 mi / 6 monthsIndependent
Brake fluid

BMW specifies a strict 24-month time-based replacement schedule due to the hygroscopic nature of DOT4 fluid, regardless of accumulated mileage.

30,000 mi / 2 yearsIndependent
Engine coolant

A closed-loop system requires periodic flushing to prevent corrosion of the aluminum block and cylinder head passages.
