2014 Bentley Continental GT maintenance schedule

The 2014 Continental GT is part of the 3W generation (2014-2018), sold as a coupe. Below: its service intervals with the source behind each one, the fluids it takes, the problems owners report for this year, and the NHTSA recalls issued for it.

Service schedule

What the 2014 Continental GT needs, and when

Manufacturer rows link to Bentley's own schedule, Independent rows to a service shop or parts retailer's published guide.

ServiceIntervalSource
Engine oil and filter

Synthetic fluid replacements are non-negotiable at the 10,000-mile or 1-year mark.

10,000 mi / 1 yearIndependent
Engine air filter

Evaluated and replaced during the bi-annual major service appointment.

20,000 mi / 2 yearsIndependent
Cabin air filter

The in-cabin pollen filter is strictly replaced every two years.

20,000 mi / 2 yearsIndependent
Tire rotation

The Continental GT's extreme curb weight (exceeding 5,100 lbs) paired with aggressive camber setups results in rapid inner shoulder wear.

10,000 mi / 1 yearIndependent
Brake fluid

Brake fluid flush is mandated every 24 months.

2 yearsIndependent
Engine coolant

The massive W12 engine produces a monumental thermal load, testing the limits of the cooling system.

5 yearsIndependent
Transmission fluid

Factory service checklists require transmission axle checking and adjustment at the 3-year/30,000-mile interval.

30,000 mi / 3 yearsIndependent
Spark plugs

Replacement is mandated every three years or 30,000 miles for the Continental GT.

30,000 mi / 3 yearsIndependent
Serpentine belt

Drive belt tension and condition must be meticulously inspected at the 3-year mark.

30,000 mi / 3 yearsIndependent
Differential and transfer case fluid

Best mechanical practice dictates replacing the Torsen differential and transfer case fluids concurrently with the ZF transmission service.

60,000 miIndependent
12V battery

The Smart Key battery is replaced at the 30k interval.

30,000 mi / 3 yearsIndependent

Intervals are for normal driving; towing, short trips, extreme heat or dust shorten them. Services we could not find an interval for are left off rather than guessed.

Known problems

What 2014 Continental GT owners run into

Problems reported for this model year, with the mileage they tend to show up at. Buying past a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.

ECU water damage from blocked plenum drains

high severity

30,000-80,000 mi · $3,000-$15,000 to fix

Leaves, dirt, and debris obstruct the scuttle drainage channels beneath the windshield cowl, allowing rainwater to pool and completely submerge the dual master/slave Bosch ME7.1.1 engine control units. Symptoms include sudden no-start conditions, erratic electrical behavior, and a requirement to expensively clone immobilizer data to replacement ECUs.

Vacuum hose deterioration (W12)

high severity

50,000-90,000 mi · $3,500-$8,000 to fix

Immense ambient engine heat bakes the rubber vacuum lines situated directly above the transmission bell housing and at the rear of the engine block. The resulting cracks cause massive false air leaks, incredibly rough idling, multiple warning lights, and compromised boost control, frequently requiring complete engine removal to access and repair.

Air suspension strut and compressor failure

high severity

50,000-75,000 mi · $3,000-$10,000 to fix

The internal rubber bladders of the air struts fatigue and crack with age and mileage, resulting in the vehicle dropping dramatically to the bump stops overnight. The air compressor subsequently overheats and fails from running continuously in a futile attempt to maintain the vehicle's immense static ride height.
