Aston Martin Rapide maintenance: the schedule, the costs, the traps

A 4-door grand touring sedan (fastback) with a gas powertrain. Below: the service intervals with real cost ranges, the repairs Rapide owners actually report, and when a fleet operator would sell. Same data Carlyle uses to score fleet buys.

Known repair windows

What Rapide owners actually run into

Mileage ranges where these repairs typically show up. Buying above a window is not automatically a pass - it just needs to be priced in.

Coil pack failure / misfire

medium severity

30,000-70,000 mi · $300-$1,800

Same 6.0L V12 coil issues as DB9; individual coils fail causing lumpy idle/misfire, labor-heavy at dealer.

Front-bank coolant crossover pipe / coolant leaks

medium severity

40,000-90,000 mi · $1,500-$3,000

Alloy coolant pipes corrode/leak; engine access makes it a labor-intensive repair.

ZF 6-speed rear transaxle / differential service

medium severity

60,000-120,000 mi · $1,000-$3,000

Rear-mounted ZF torque-converter auto is durable (no wearing clutch like Sportshift cars), but transaxle/diff fluid service and mounts are needed with age.

Suspension & subframe bushings

medium severity

50,000-100,000 mi · $1,000-$3,000

Bushes perish with age causing clunks and vague handling.

Battery drain / electrical & A/C faults

low severity

Any mileage · $200-$1,800

Parasitic drains, module faults and A/C issues common on aging cars; keep on a battery tender.

Operator notes

Original Rapide, discontinued 2013 (5.9/6.0L NA V12 ~470 hp), ZF 6-speed automatic rear transaxle (torque converter, so no Sportshift clutch wear). Timing chain engine. Era schedule: annual / 10,000-mile alternating minor and major, plugs+coils bundled around the 7th service. As an aging exotic, budget for perished rubber, coolant pipes, and electrical drains beyond mileage items.

When the smart money sells

On fleet math, a gas Rapide retires around 95,000 miles. Carlyle's garage tracks this per car, against your actual odometer.

Cost ranges are typical US independent-shop estimates and vary by region and condition. Modeling, not mechanic advice - always confirm against your car's service records.
